Explore Castletownbere, Beara Peninsula East

The Beara Peninsula is a stunning place, there is much to do and see here. We have two tours one to the East of Castletownbere and one to the west.

From Castletownbere heading east, we drive along the coast to Adrigole where it is possible to drive up the beautiful Healy pass. Spectacular road full of scenery and hairpin bends.  Also Trafask where the O’Sullivan brothers came from. These five brothers all died on the same US Navy ship during the second world war.

Then back down and on to Glengarriff for its picturesque woodland setting and a possible visit to Garinish island and  the woods.

Then on over the Caha pass to Kenmare, on the way stopping at Bonane and eventually the lovely Kenmare waterfalls.Kenmare is a colourful Kerry town full of interesting shops and bars, as well as a stone circle very close to the town centre.

On the way back on the northern side of the Beara Peninsula we can stop at :

  • The Gleninchaquin Park waterfall
  • kilmacalogue and Helen’s bar
  • Lauragh and Derreen Gardens
  • Ardgroom village and its stone circle
  • Eyeries a beautiful colourful village

A fantastic day out showing off some of Beara’s lovely spots
